The Best Day of Eats from a Paris “local”
Bonjour et bienvenue à Paris! Paris is my absolute favorite city in the world and I was lucky enough to not only have lived there for 6 months, but also visit multiple times since then!
To no one’s surprise, I ate some of the best food in the world during my time there, and there are restaurants that I make sure to revisit every time I am in the city. In this blog post I am going to take you through the best day of eats in Paris and why they are some of my favorites!
Starting out strong with a delicious breakfast at the world famous Carette! While this is extremely well known, it is popular for good reason! I actually prefer the hot chocolate at Carette compared to the one at Angelina. Another pro tip for Carette is visiting the location by Place des Vosges instead of the more popular & crowded one by the Trocadero.
Of course you cannot go to Carette without getting the world famous hot chocolate or chocolat chaud! It is so thick and rich and comes with a huge bowl of whipped cream on the side! As far as food goes, you can’t go wrong with a croissant of any kind, but what I really love here is their French-style scrambled eggs. They are so delicious and the perfect savory balance to the hot chocolate! After enjoying breakfast, walk around the beautiful gardens at Place des Vosges and neat little shops!
My lunch spot is a special one… and a true ‘local’ gem at that! This is Les Patios, right on the square of the Sorbonne Universite campus! My friends and I discovered this cute little brasseries because my best friend Loredana actually lived in the apartments right above it during our study abroad. Once we discovered how amazing it was, we were weekly visitors, and every time I return to Paris, I always make it a point to go back.
They have one of the best pizzas I have ever had! On the one that I get, they put an entire ball of burrata on it and a drizzle of their homemade pesto. It is absolutely to die for!
Aside from this heavenly pizza, the employees here are so incredibly sweet (something that can be quite rare for Parisians!) After discovering Loredana living above and our frequent visits, they began recognizing us and even gave us free champagne and sang to Loredana on her birthday!
After enjoying this spectacular lunch, explore the Sorbonne campus and the beautiful 5th arrondissement!
Last but certainly not least, complete your delicious day at the famous Lipp Brasserie.
Lipp is an excellent dining experience from start to finish. All the servers wear tuxedos and are so kind (even to Americans). Their steak and frites are some of the best I have had in all of my times in Paris, but the secret to their filet is their special sauce they serve it with! It is mouthwatering and is the perfect meal.
Lipp is located in my very favorite neighborhood in Paris, Saint German, right across the street from Cafe de Flore as well as Les Deux Magots. This neighborhood is super safe to do even more exploring after your dinner, even if it is dark!
