Restaurant Spotlight: Ralph’s Paris

Although not technically a French restaurant, Ralph’s, owned by world renowned American fashion designer Ralph Lauren, serves not only some of the best food, but the best vibes in Paris.

My mom and I first discovered Ralph’s on our second night after moving me in for the semester. We were seated in the bar, surrounded by the dark woods, leather, and American-inspired artwork. The food was absolutely spectacular, and the service was some of the best I have experienced in Paris.

Since that first night at Ralph’s, I brought back all my visitors for a night of fine dining, wonderful drinks, and delicious desserts, and now, make sure I dine each time I return to Paris.

My favorite place to sit (weather permitting) is their beautiful and secluded Patio back behind the large entrance doors. The greenery, place settings and ambiance is superb. Ralph’s is located in my favorite neighborhood of Saint Germain in the 6th arrondissement and is nearby the famous Cafe de Flore and Deux Magots. The architecture of the restaurant is breathtaking and they have curated the coolest art pieces to admire throughout your meal.

Now… what to order! They have these amazing mini lobster rolls as a starter that you must get! For my entree, I typically opt for their filet which comes served with a generous side of mashed potatoes. Their steaks are always cooked perfectly and pair great with any of their sauces. I have also had their salmon dish which is another great choice. If dining for lunch, or really want to feel at home, they have a great burger and fries.

For dessert, it varies seasonally, but their passionfruit cheesecake is my favorite thing I have indulged in, in my numerous experiences there.

For me, Ralph’s slowly became one of my ‘safe spaces’ in Paris. Because it is owned by an American, I never felt pressured to speak French or judged when I immediately spoke English, because I knew I could there. Instead of butchering the majority of my words at all other French restaurants, I felt at home in Ralph’s and turned it into my safe haven when I was feeling a little homesick. Even if you are only in Paris for a short time (not long enough to necessarily miss America), you should definitely still check out Ralph’s, the food and ambiance speaks for itself!
